The Metro 2039 story so far

Metro 2039 is set in the year 2039. Official copy says survivors in the Moscow Metro have been pulled under Novoreich, a regime that rules by propaganda and fear. The player character is the Stranger, a recluse driven out of hiding by nightmares, going back into a Metro he had sworn to leave. Dmitry Glukhovsky is credited as a writing collaborator. Endings are not public, because the game is not out.

I stuck to the Deep Silver synopsis and the April 2026 reveal instead of a fan wiki plot. The three theme lines they print are the cost of silence, the horrors of tyranny, and the price of freedom. I also noticed that “how many years after Exodus” is not stable across write-ups, so this page keeps the official year, 2039, and does not convert it into a gap.

What the synopsis commits to

Novoreich’s own slogan, quoted in official material, is “Pure nation, clean air, bright future.” A harsher line used around the faction is “if it’s hostile, you kill it.” The antagonist figure in the marketing is Hunter, now presented as Führer of that regime. Who he was in Metro 2033, and what this game does not explain, is on the Hunter page.

4A has said the writing changed because of the war that began in 2022, toward the consequences of war. That is a production comment, not a scene list.
